Henderson just scored a new player in the healthcare game. Nova Southeastern University has opened a 16,500-square-foot regional campus in the city, bringing Nevada's first anesthesiologist assistant program to the Las Vegas area. The facility at 876 Seven Hills Drive will welcome an inaugural cohort of 26 students this summer in a 27-month master’s track and packs in dedicated simulation labs and functioning operating rooms for hands-on training. University leaders and local officials cut the ribbon earlier this month to make it official.

Built For Clinic-Style Training

The regional campus is designed to extend NSU Health's programs and resources into Southern Nevada, with collaborative classrooms, student lounges and technology-enabled instructional spaces that intentionally mirror hospital environments. The university's Nevada campus page lists an orientation on May 28 and a white-coat ceremony at Green Valley Ranch, a quick ramp-up from construction site to active classroom. According to Nova Southeastern University, the site will offer flexible day and online options while expanding clinical training opportunities locally.

Built With Local Partners

Nigro Construction joined university leaders and elected officials for the ribbon-cutting, and the contractor's vice president said the build focused on adaptability and efficient use of every corner. “With a regional campus, you don’t have the luxury of wasted space. Every square foot needs to provide value and support the students using it,” Nigro Construction’s Cory Frank said, per FOX5. NSU Executive Vice President Daniel J. Alfonso told FOX5 the campus “reflects our commitment to creating high-quality, dynamic learning environments that support both student success and community impact.” The station also reported the facility’s 16,500-square-foot footprint and its intent to host multiple healthcare programs.

Why It Matters For Local Care

NSU has framed the Henderson campus as a response to workforce needs in Nevada. In a press release, the university said the site will be the state's first anesthesiologist assistant program and will enroll its first cohort of 26 students in the 27-month program this summer. The release also notes that the campus will leverage support from the U.S. Anesthesia Partners Center for Anesthesia Education and Leadership for clinical rotations and mentorship, according to GlobeNewswire. Nevada law already provides a framework for licensing and supervising anesthesiologist assistants, outlined in the state's statute on AA regulation, NRS 633.4252.

The inaugural class is expected to move into clinical education this summer, and NSU says it plans to add respiratory therapy and physician assistant offerings at the Henderson site as demand grows. Local officials at the ribbon-cutting said the campus could help keep health-care training and jobs in Southern Nevada instead of sending students out of state.
