Running a party store usually means watching other people hit it big. For Indian River resident Patricia Lange, 77, the celebration started at home when a Club Keno ticket bought at her own shop, Pat & Gary's Party Store, rang up a $100,000 win. Her husband checked the drawing, realized what they were holding, and rushed home to wake her up with the news. The couple says the unexpected windfall will help them cover bills and restock the store for the busy summer season.
According to Michigan Lottery Connect, Lange matched nine of the 20 Club Keno numbers in draw 2606168 on May 25, a result that would normally pay $50,000. Because the ticket included the KICKER add-on, that prize was multiplied to $100,000. The Lottery listed her winning numbers as 06-13-34-38-61-64-69-76-77-80.
ClickOnDetroit reports the lucky ticket was purchased at Pat & Gary's Party Store, located at 3758 Straits Highway in Indian River, and that the Langes buy Club Keno tickets at the shop every day. "My husband bought this ticket and saw we'd won big while he was watching the drawings," Lange said in remarks the Lottery published and local outlets picked up. She later visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize, according to Michigan Lottery materials.
How the KICKER Multiplied the Win
Per the Michigan Lottery's FAQ, the KICKER is a multiplier (1 to 5) randomly selected before each Club Keno drawing. If you choose to play it, your Club Keno winnings, excluding certain other add-ons, are multiplied by that number. The KICKER multiplier does not apply to The Jack or some other add-ons, which is why Lange's $50,000 base prize became $100,000 instead of a larger amount. The Lottery's official rules for KICKER are detailed on its game FAQ.
What They Plan To Do With The Money
Lange claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters, according to Michigan Lottery Connect. The couple told the Lottery they plan to put the money toward bills and to restock Pat & Gary's ahead of the incoming summer tourist rush.
Local Context
State licensing records list Pat & Gary's as a licensed retail business in Cheboygan County at the South Straits Highway address, matching its official listing in LARA files. Indian River sits about 30 miles north of Gaylord, a geographic detail noted in local coverage of the win.
