Police said the young man died at the scene, and relatives who spoke with reporters described the family as heartbroken and in shock. Authorities have opened an investigation into the crash.

Pedestrian Safety in Los Angeles County
Pedestrians continue to make up a troubling share of traffic deaths in Los Angeles County, and alcohol-impaired driving remains a stubborn factor in many of those fatal crashes. Data from UC Berkeley’s CATSIP indicate that pedestrian collisions account for a disproportionate number of deaths on local streets.
Statewide, the problem is just as grim. The California Office of Traffic Safety reports there were 1,355 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities across the state in 2023.
Investigation Ongoing
Police told FOX 11 Los Angeles that investigators are processing the scene and tracking down leads. As of the station’s latest report, officials had not said whether the driver was in custody or if formal charges were expected.
The victim’s young age and the suspected role of impairment underscore the risks pedestrians face across the region, even on routine walks home from work. This story will be updated as authorities release more information.
