The Honolulu Police Department says the shooting happened around 12:08 p.m. when an unknown man in a white Ford van flashed a handgun and opened fire on the victims' vehicle, striking the car but not the people inside. District 4 detectives, who cover Windward Oʻahu, are leading the case and canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. The district includes Kailua, Kāneʻohe and nearby neighborhoods, and operates a Kailua substation with community policing teams, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
