What LAFD Reported
In its official incident log, LAFD says crews were dispatched at 10:53 p.m. and arrived to find the carport of a one-story single-family home "well-involved" in fire, with flames quickly spreading to an exposed two-story dwelling behind it. The department reported that all occupants were out of both structures and that no injuries were reported. Roughly 80 firefighters achieved a 31-minute knockdown, and companies remained on scene for salvage and overhaul. Inspectors from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and the Department of Water and Power were requested, according to LAFD's alerts page.
Neighborhood Pattern
The late-night call fits a pattern for Westlake, which has seen several small building fires this year, with LAFD called to nearby blocks for similar early-morning and late-night responses. In April the department contained a pre-dawn apartment blaze on Burlington Avenue in roughly 18 minutes, a pattern pre-dawn Burlington Avenue blaze reporting noted. Older walk-up housing in the area can trigger multi-company responses even when flames stay confined to a single unit.
City crews remained on scene for salvage and overhaul while investigators and building officials assessed the damage, and the department posted a scene map and a brief X update with links to incident details, per LAFD on X. For emergencies or immediate hazards, officials say to call 911.
