A portion of the roof at Aviata at Bradenton collapsed Saturday evening, prompting an evacuation; Bradenton police say there were no injuries. Crews are on scene securing the building.

A passenger died and two others were injured when a pickup towing a trailer struck two cars on Edgewood Ave W near Lem Turner Road.

Two Hickory residents were arrested after human remains were found near a Glen Alpine trail. One victim has been identified while a second awaits positive ID as investigators probe the scene.
