
One man is dead, and another was hospitalized after a violent two-vehicle crash that rolled a van at West Northwest Highway and Marsh Lane in Dallas just after 10 p.m. yesterday. Dallas firefighters and police found two male drivers at the scene and rushed them to a nearby hospital. The driver of a red Ford Focus died shortly after arrival, while the driver of the white van was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said the Focus turned into the path of the westbound van, triggering a broadside impact that toppled the van onto its side. Police said they do not expect criminal charges and have not released either driver’s name.
What Police And Crews Reported
According to FOX 4, Dallas Fire-Rescue crews arrived to find both the red Focus and the white van badly damaged in the intersection. First responders extricated the occupants and took both drivers to a local hospital, FOX 4 reported. Dallas police processed the scene and told the outlet they were treating the wreck as a traffic collision rather than a criminal case.
Northwest Highway's Recent Crash History
Northwest Highway has already drawn safety concerns in recent years. A March wreck along the corridor that killed a pedestrian brought renewed scrutiny from city officials and police, according to The Dallas Morning News. According to the City of Dallas Northwest Highway & Preston Road Area Plan, long-term street and pedestrian improvements are intended to reduce collisions and improve safety along the route.

Dallas police said the investigation remains active and that they will review evidence and hospital records before releasing more information, FOX 4 reported. Anyone who has dash-cam video or eyewitness information from the Marsh Lane and Northwest Highway area around 10 p.m. yesterday is asked to contact investigators, police said.
