A teen from Jennings is fighting for life after a Wednesday night shooting that still has more questions than answers, according to police.
Investigators say officers were already at a local hospital around 9:25 p.m., having just transported a victim from an unrelated shooting in Spanish Lake, when a wounded Jennings teenager showed up in need of emergency care, First Alert 4 reports. The teen’s injuries are described as life-threatening.
So far, detectives still do not know exactly where in Jennings the gunfire broke out or what led up to it, and there are no suspects in custody, according to the outlet. For now, police are working backward from the hospital, trying to piece together how the teen ended up there with such serious wounds.
Police Seek Tips
St. Louis County authorities are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward. The St. Louis County Police list their non-emergency line as 636-529-8210.
Detectives say the investigation remains active, and more details could be released as they become available, according to First Alert 4.
North County Has Seen Recent Shootings
The shooting is the latest in a string of high-profile gun violence cases in Jennings and nearby north St. Louis County this year. Those incidents include a case that led to murder charges in May. That pattern has residents and local leaders repeatedly urging neighbors to cooperate with investigators as police search for answers.
For now, authorities are hoping someone in the community will share information that helps them figure out who pulled the trigger and why.
