Two very different brands of comedy are about to hit the same Las Vegas stage. Marlon Wayans and Tim Allen are both locked in to headline MGM Grand’s Aces of Comedy series this summer, giving the Strip a pair of heavyweight stand-up weekends.
Wayans is booked for Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. Allen follows a couple of weeks later with a one-night run on Saturday, Aug. 8, all under the Aces of Comedy banner at MGM Grand.
As reported by FOX5 Las Vegas, tickets for Wayans start at $49, while seats for Allen begin at $69. The station notes that Allen’s tickets are already on sale and confirms that Aces of Comedy shows are 16-and-over, with anyone under 18 required to attend with an adult.
Where to See Them
According to Ticketmaster, both acts are slated for the MGM Grand Theater, with the calendar listing Wayans on July 24 and 25 and Allen on Aug. 8. The venue is located at 3799 S. Las Vegas Blvd on the Strip, putting the shows right in the thick of the resort corridor.
Two Big Draws
Marlon Wayans arrives in Vegas on the heels of a revival of the Wayans-led “Scary Movie” franchise, which returned to theaters in early June, as detailed by The Associated Press. The long-running horror-spoof series helped cement his reputation for high-energy, physical, anything-for-a-laugh comedy.
Tim Allen, meanwhile, comes in with the résumé of a veteran crossover star. He is still best known for the 1990s sitcom “Home Improvement” and for voicing Buzz Lightyear in the “Toy Story” films, according to Encyclopaedia Britannica, giving his stand-up an extra layer of nostalgia for fans who grew up with him on screen.
Tickets, Ages and Tips
Per a press release from MGM Resorts, tickets for Marlon Wayans go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. PT, with an MGM Rewards presale running Thursday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. PT. The release notes that tickets are available through mgmgrand.com, ticketmaster.com and MGM Resorts box offices.
As with most Strip shows, the listed starting prices do not include taxes and service fees, so expect your final total to land higher than the base number when you lock in seats.
