Norman’s summer soundtrack is about to get a serious upgrade. Jazz in June is rolling back into Andrews Park for three nights of free live music and daytime workshops June 18–20, bringing international jazz, funk and soul acts into the heart of downtown alongside local ensembles and educational events.
According to Jazz in June, the three-day festival remains free to the public and keeps a strong focus on family-friendly programming and artist education. The festival site lays out set times, workshop details and vendor information for anyone planning their weekend around the music.
Who’s playing
Friday night features the Mike Stern Band, with opening night spotlighting Oklahoma-based Satin Soul. Saturday’s headliner is internationally acclaimed bassist Vincen Garcia. Rounding out the lineup are trumpeter Summer Camargo, guitarist Mark Lettieri and multi-instrumentalist Chris Bullock, both associated with Snarky Puppy, along with Miami trio Fat Produce and the Summer Jazz Collective, as reported by Oklahoma Gazette.
Workshops and community programming
It is not just about the evening concerts. Jazz in June will host daily educational workshops starting at 2 p.m., giving both players and curious listeners a chance to learn directly from visiting musicians. Workshops are scheduled June 18 and 20 at Norman Public Library West and June 19 at The Well, according to the Journal Record.
