The NYPD on Thursday released surveillance images of a person it says is linked to a series of robberies in Midtown Manhattan and is asking New Yorkers to help put a name to the face. The department's Crime Stoppers program circulated the alert, connecting the incidents to both the Midtown South and Midtown North precincts as well as Transit District 1, and urged anyone with video or information to reach out while investigators work to determine how the cases fit together.
Photos Released, Reward Offered
In a post on X, NYPD Crime Stoppers said the person in the photos is wanted "in connection with a robbery pattern" that took place within the Midtown South and Midtown North precincts and Transit District 1. The alert lists tip lines 1-800-577-TIPS and, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA, and notes that tips leading to an arrest and indictment may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,500.
Why Midtown Is In Focus
Transit District 1 is part of the NYPD Transit Bureau and covers a dense cluster of subway stations and nearby streets around Columbus Circle and other Midtown hot spots, where commuters and tourists constantly cross paths. According to the NYPD, the bureau patrols dozens of stations and depends heavily on public tips and surveillance video to build cases. With heavy foot traffic and lots of late-night movement, Midtown investigations often hinge on who saw what and what the cameras captured.
Midtown's Recent Alerts
Recent local coverage shows police have repeatedly leaned on Crime Stoppers for similar Midtown cases, using released images to spark tips and track down video evidence. Hoodline recently highlighted one such wanted alert - Man Jumped For Jersey - which also spelled out the department's tip lines and the same potential $3,500 reward.
How To Submit Tips
Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or the Spanish line at 1-888-57-PISTA (74782), or to submit an anonymous tip through the NYPD Crime Stoppers portal. Detectives note that tips leading to an arrest and indictment may qualify for the reward mentioned in the posted alert.
