An early-morning street argument in the heart of downtown San Antonio ended with a 32-year-old man in the hospital and a knife-wielding suspect on the run, police said. Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to the intersection of Crockett and Plaza streets, where they found the victim with an apparent stab wound. Witnesses told officers the two men had been arguing before the unknown male allegedly rushed the victim and stabbed him, then bolted before police arrived. No arrests have been made, and investigators say the case remains under active investigation.
What police say
According to KSAT, officers found the 32-year-old at the scene and had him taken to a local hospital for treatment, though his condition was not immediately released. Witnesses reported that the men argued and then began to walk away from each other when the unidentified man suddenly charged and stabbed the victim, KSAT reported. San Antonio police said detectives are following up on leads and are asking anyone with information to contact the department.
Recent downtown violence
The stabbing comes amid a string of recent violence downtown. On May 25, a man was fatally stabbed near the San Antonio Central Library, according to the Houston Chronicle. The midday stabbing near Central Library has kept SAPD detectives busy and highlighted how useful surveillance and bystander video can be in helping investigators piece together what unfolded.
How to help
SAPD is asking anyone with information, photos or video related to the attack to call the department’s tip line at 210-207-7401 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (210-224-7867), per the City of San Antonio. Investigators say any footage from the Crockett and Plaza area early Sunday could help move the case forward.
