Cloudy skies and muggy air greeted Cincinnati this morning, with temperatures sitting near 70°F at Lunken Field. The heat will ramp up quickly, with afternoon highs headed for about 89°F and southwest breezes around 6 to 12 mph. There is a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms tonight, but most of Saturday still looks friendly for errands, backyard grills, and patio time.
Afternoon Heat And A Short Window For Storms
As mid-morning clouds thin, sunshine will nudge temperatures into the upper 80s while southwest winds stay light to moderate. Gusts could briefly reach near 20 mph during peak heating, which will make it feel a bit more stirred up than earlier in the day. Late this afternoon, keep an eye on the radar, since any pop-up storm could be brief yet capable of heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
Heavy Rain Risk Early Next Week
Storm chances climb Sunday and Monday, then really crank up on Tuesday when coverage jumps into the 80 to 90 percent range and locally heavy rainfall becomes more likely. Forecasters are tracking a very moist air mass slated to move in early next week, which means some neighborhoods could pick up a few tenths to a half-inch of rain in short bursts, with localized ponding possible. That timing and heavier rain signal comes from the National Weather Service Wilmington.
Plan Ahead
If you are trying to squeeze in outdoor plans tonight or over the weekend, aim for mornings and early afternoons when storm coverage is lowest, and keep an umbrella or poncho handy for late-day rumblers. Avoid driving through standing water and check in on conditions overnight. Earlier coverage of the weekend setup is available in our weekend pattern preview. We will post updates if watches or warnings are issued.
