Clear skies over Sacramento this Saturday morning did not stay gentle for long. Sacramento Executive Airport started the day at about 64°F, but most of the Valley is on track to roast by mid-afternoon. Expect strong sun with hardly a cloud in sight, and plan on inland neighborhoods taking the brunt of the heat.
Heat Advisories In Effect
Daytime highs are expected to climb into the upper 90s to near 100°F across the city on Saturday, June 13, with mainly light southwest winds and nighttime lows only dipping into the upper 50s. According to NWS Sacramento, a Heat Advisory remains in effect through 11 p.m. Saturday, June 13, and an Extreme Heat Warning runs from 11 a.m. Sunday, June 14, through 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 16. Forecasters add that some northern Sacramento Valley spots could flirt with 110°F early next week.
Take extra care if you work outdoors, check in on older neighbors, and do not leave children or pets in parked vehicles, even for a quick errand.
Afternoon Peak And Local Differences
Temperatures will climb steadily through the morning and peak in the mid-to-late afternoon, with the hottest stretch expected between about 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Inland pockets and neighborhoods away from the river are likely to top out in the upper 90s to near 100°F, while areas feeling the Delta breeze should manage to stay a few degrees cooler.
Winds will stay light early in the day, but by Saturday night, south winds could pick up to around 3–10 mph with gusts up to about 18 mph in some locations, offering at least a little relief.
Where To Cool Off
If you need an air-conditioned place to ride out the worst of the heat, Sacramento-area cooling centers typically open during significant heat events. You can call 2-1-1 or search the online database for activated sites and hours. For current locations and phone assistance, visit 211 Sacramento.
Outlook
The heat is expected to hang on through early next week, with only a modest cooldown showing up by midweek. Plan for hot afternoons, limited overnight relief across much of the Valley, and a stretch where staying hydrated and shifting strenuous chores to early morning or evening is the smarter play. Keep an eye on updated local forecasts in case the timing or intensity of the heat shifts.
