What medics said
Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic) confirmed it transported one person from the Charleston Place Lane area but did not release any identifying information about the patient or describe how the shooting unfolded.
According to the Mecklenburg EMS Agency (Medic), the service provides prehospital emergency care across the county and typically limits early public updates to a patient’s general condition and pickup location in order to protect patient privacy.
Police response and tips
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigators were on scene Saturday night and, as of early Sunday, had not issued a detailed public update about the shooting.
CMPD lists its tip line at 704-432-TIPS and Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 for anyone with information about shootings or other violent crimes, according to CMPD's newsroom.
Citywide context
The incident comes as Charlotte continues to wrestle with periodic gun violence even while overall crime trends have been moving in the opposite direction.
The Charlotte Observer reported that CMPD’s 2025 annual report showed a 9% drop in overall crime and a decline in homicides compared with 2024. Despite those improvements on paper, shootings have continued to surface across the city into 2026.
This remains a developing story. Authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation progresses. In the meantime, anyone with information is urged to contact CMPD or Crime Stoppers.
