Three people were hurt late Saturday when a serious crash shut down both directions of North Sharon Amity Road in east Charlotte, according to authorities. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash team blocked the 4300 block while investigators and emergency crews worked the scene. MEDIC took the injured to area hospitals, but officials shared only limited information about their conditions Saturday night. The roadway stayed closed for several hours as evidence was documented and crews cleared the wreckage.
Official Logs Flag A 'Personal Injury' Wreck
According to CMPD's live traffic feed, an "accident - personal injury" was recorded at 4327 N Sharon Amity Rd around 9:15 p.m., and the Eastway Division listed the incident as active. The department's CAD feed shows officers on scene and confirms that crews shut down the road while they worked. That official entry remains the most up-to-date public record of the closure and emergency response.
CMPD Probing Cause As Details Stay Sparse
As reported by WSOC, CMPD said it was investigating a crash in the 4300 block of North Sharon Amity Road and had closed both directions while detectives processed the scene. The station noted that officials released little additional information Saturday night, with more expected as investigators are ready to share it. Police have not yet identified a cause or said whether any citations or charges might follow.
Another High-Crash Stretch Draws First Responders
The North Sharon Amity corridor has seen a string of recent collisions and pedestrian strikes, fueling concern among residents and keeping emergency crews busy. As separate pedestrian strike coverage by Hoodline noted just days earlier, MEDIC crews responded to a different pedestrian hit at Campbell Drive and North Sharon Amity. City and police efforts to improve lighting and intersections in parts of the corridor are ongoing, but neighbors say serious incidents continue to pile up.
We have requested additional information from CMPD and MEDIC and will update this story as soon as officials release more details. Anyone with video or information about the crash may be asked to share it with investigators through CMPD's public tip lines once an official release is posted.
