A suspected car prowler put a Spring neighborhood on alert Thursday after a resident reported an unknown person pulling on vehicle door handles near Spring Cypress Road and Foster Road, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. Deputies searched the surrounding streets, but the suspect had already taken off on foot before they arrived and remained at large as the search continued. Neighbors were urged to lock their vehicles, secure valuables and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
What The Constable Posted
Constable Mark Herman detailed the incident in a post on Facebook. He said deputies were dispatched after a resident spotted someone testing vehicle doors near the Spring Cypress and Foster intersection. According to the post, deputies searched the area, but the suspect had fled on foot. The update did not list any arrests or provide a detailed description of the person involved. The constable’s office asked anyone with information to contact deputies as they continue the search.
How Deputies Work These Searches
Precinct 4 often leans on a combination of drone pilots and K-9 teams to tighten up search areas when suspects bolt into brush or nearby retention ponds, as the Spring pond chase reported. Those tools help deputies cover rough or hard-to-reach terrain more quickly than a standard foot search and can speed up apprehensions. The constable’s social media updates frequently mention when air and canine units are called in during active searches.
What Neighbors Should Do
Deputies are asking residents to stay alert and to report anything out of the ordinary. For emergencies, residents should call 911. For tips and follow-ups, the constable’s office lists its non-emergency dispatch line at (281) 376-3472. The constable’s Facebook page and the “C4 NOW” mobile app are used to send out live incident alerts and safety tips, the Houston Chronicle reported. Investigators are also asking anyone with dash-cam or doorbell camera footage from the Spring Cypress and Foster area to share it through those channels to help with the ongoing investigation.
