Good Intentions, the all-vegan restaurant in St. Petersburg's Grand Central district, is on its way out. The owners say the dining room will stay open at least through mid-summer, but the countdown has begun for one of the city's standout plant-based anchors.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the owners expect to close the restaurant by mid-summer 2026 and plan to keep operations going in the near term. The Times report, filed June 12, 2026 by Helen Freund, lays out the basic timeline but notes that the exact end date is still to come.
Good Intentions opened in 2022 as a collaboration between restaurateurs already familiar to local vegan diners and quickly staked its claim as the area's first all-vegan owned, full-service restaurant. St. Pete Catalyst chronicled the launch and highlighted that the same owners are behind Golden Dinosaurs, Black Radish and Nah Dogs. The spot built a following for its elevated plant-based dishes and late-night cocktail program, a reputation reflected in reviews and listings on sites like HappyCow.
Closures Have Hit The Local Vegan Scene
The planned shutdown of Good Intentions comes on the heels of other vegan losses in the area. Golden Dinosaurs, a sister concept, closed in early 2025 amid economic pressures, according to local coverage. St. Pete Rising and other neighborhood guides have noted a string of vegan-concept closures in recent years, even as Good Intentions picked up local accolades and regular spots on community dining lists. St. Pete Life includes the restaurant among the city's notable vegan and vegetarian options.
What Comes Next
The owners have not detailed what will happen with the space after mid-summer, and the initial coverage did not include a firm final service date, according to the Tampa Bay Times. For now, the plan is for the kitchen and bar to keep running while the team figures out its next steps and local outlets track any new developments.
