St. Pete–Clearwater is getting a fresh batch of sunny escape routes this winter, as BermudAir rolls out new seasonal international service from St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) starting in December. The airline is launching direct flights to Turks and Caicos and Belize, plus weekly service to Anguilla, creating what it says will be the only nonstop links from the Tampa Bay region to Turks and Caicos and Belize. The flights are set to run into early May, adding extra punch to PIE’s winter schedule.
Routes, schedule and ticketing
According to St. Pete‑Clearwater International Airport, BermudAir plans twice-weekly nonstop service to Turks and Caicos on Mondays and Thursdays from Dec. 21 through May 3, 2027. Belize gets its own twice-weekly nonstop service on Wednesdays or Thursdays and Sundays from Dec. 20 through May 2, 2027. Anguilla will see weekly direct service on Thursdays beginning Dec. 24 through May 2, 2027.
The airport notes that tickets for the new routes will go on sale Friday, pending government approvals. It also points out that the Belize flights will operate under fifth-freedom rules, with some services starting in Bermuda or Turks and Caicos before continuing on to Belize.
What to expect on board
Per BermudAir, the carrier flies a mix of Embraer E175 and E190 jets and plans to assign its E190s to the new PIE routes. The airline outfits its planes in a two-class configuration with no middle seats, a layout it says is designed to give passengers more room than typical single-aisle cabins. Travelers can expect a smaller, service-focused experience rather than a stripped-down ultra-low-cost setup.
Local reaction and economic lift
St. Pete‑Clearwater International Airport Director Mark Sprague said in the airport’s announcement, “We are excited to announce new international nonstop service to two outstanding resort destinations, Turks and Caicos and Belize,” adding that the routes extend PIE’s reach into the Caribbean and Central America. BermudAir founder and CEO Adam Scott said the move supports the airline’s premium leisure strategy and builds on strong customer-satisfaction scores. Airport officials say the added nonstop options could boost winter tourism, helping both Tampa Bay residents looking to head south and visitors using PIE as a gateway.
How to book and what to watch
Once ticket sales open, travelers will be able to find fares and vacation packages on BermudAir’s website, and the airline is urging customers to check BermudAir for exact schedules and pricing as seats are expected to sell quickly. Because the Belize service involves fifth-freedom segments that may begin outside the United States, passengers are advised to double-check their specific routing and baggage rules for each leg of the trip. Local travel agents and tour operators say the new nonstops could help fill winter hotel rooms while giving Tampa Bay residents a direct shot to Caribbean and Central American getaways.
