Wingstop has planted its flag on Main Street in downtown New Rochelle, bringing the chain’s carryout and delivery wings to the heart of the city’s retail strip. The new restaurant at 510 Main Street is aimed at nearby residents, office workers and the evening crowd. It is operated by Eastwing, a regional Wingstop franchise group that has been growing across New York suburbs and nearby Connecticut towns. Franchise leaders and local partners say the site was picked for its steady foot traffic and mix of customers.
Local franchisee steered the move
Spencer Rubin and Avanka Kannangara, the Eastwing executives behind the New Rochelle launch, told Westfair, “We’re not in the wing business. We’re in the flavor business.” They said New Rochelle checked all the boxes for them, citing “strong foot traffic, a dense and diverse population and a real appetite for the brand.” According to Westfair, Rubin is Eastwing’s CEO and Kannangara is senior vice president of operations, and the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce connected the franchisees with city economic development contacts and local stakeholders. The outlet also notes the partners operate roughly 30 Wingstop franchises across New York and New England.
Where to find it
The new Wingstop is listed at 510 Main Street on Wingstop’s official locations page, which shows the store’s phone number and ordering options. Wingstop also lists carryout and delivery hours for the New Rochelle outlet. On the franchise side, Eastwing celebrated the opening as the company’s 30th store, giving a shout-out to the local general manager and district team that handled the launch. Local ordering apps now show the Main Street location live for delivery across much of downtown New Rochelle.
Part of a national push
The New Rochelle outpost arrives as Wingstop keeps up a rapid national rollout. The brand announced late last year that it had crossed roughly 3,000 restaurants worldwide. PR Newswire reports that Wingstop has scaled quickly in recent years and expects more growth driven by franchise partners. The chain’s compact, delivery friendly footprint is a natural fit for busy Main Street storefronts, which makes locations like New Rochelle attractive to regional operators such as Eastwing.
What it means for downtown
Downtown organizers have already folded the new spot into their event calendar. The New Rochelle Downtown BID lists Wingstop at 510 Main and included it in its “Summer of Soccer” lineup with a limited offer tied to online orders. New Rochelle Downtown BID says the promotion runs through September and is designed to steer tournament watchers toward local businesses. Franchise and city contacts say the opening is one more sign of steady retail activity returning to Main Street.
