
This morning, outside General Motors' Arlington assembly plant, turned violent when a gunman shot a 24-year-old man multiple times in the parking lot, then reportedly called 911 to turn himself in. The victim was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries, and Arlington police say the suspected shooter is now in custody.
Suspect Leaves, Then Calls 911 On Himself
Officers were called around 6:35 a.m. to the 2500 block of East Abram Street, where they found a 24-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to FOX 4, the suspected shooter initially left the parking lot after the gunfire but later phoned 911 to report his involvement. Police located him at another undisclosed location and arrested him without incident.
Investigators are still interviewing the suspect, and criminal charges are pending. Authorities have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect.
GM Arlington Plant Becomes Crime Scene
The shooting unfolded outside GM's Arlington Assembly complex at 2525 E. Abram St., a long-established manufacturing hub and major employer in the city. According to General Motors, the plant employs more than 5,400 people and runs multiple shifts building full-size SUVs.
Police Say It Was An Isolated Dispute
Arlington police say the early-morning gunfire appears to have stemmed from a dispute between two people who knew each other, and they do not believe there is any wider threat to the public. The investigation remains active as detectives continue questioning the arrested suspect and preparing potential charges, according to FOX 4.
