Burbank’s Warner Bros. Ranch is stepping into the global spotlight as the broadcast headquarters for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, LA28 and Warner Bros. Discovery announced. The 30-acre Hollywood Way campus will handle operations that gather and beam out event coverage to broadcasters around the world, with preparations to get the lot Games-ready scheduled to start in January 2027.
Deal and facilities
As reported by the Los Angeles Times, the International Olympic Committee signed off on the site selection, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Simon Robinson described the Ranch as “near-perfect for them, both in size and in access.” The Times notes that the campus recently went through a major overhaul that upgraded soundstages and production infrastructure so they meet modern broadcast requirements.
How the IBC fits
Separate from the Burbank hub, LA28 has already named Hollywood Park Studios in Inglewood as the home of the International Broadcast Center, which will be operated by Olympic Broadcasting Services. According to LA28, the IBC will house offices, studios and control rooms for rights-holding broadcasters during the Games.
Production and timeline
The Los Angeles Times reports that LA28 expects to use nearly all of the Ranch’s soundstages while the Games are underway, and that no Warner Bros. productions will be pushed out in the process. Three shows currently filming at the complex are slated to wrap before LA28 moves in next year, clearing the way for the Olympic build-out. Work to prepare the campus for the Olympics is set to start in January, with organizers saying the arrangement will cover roughly two years surrounding the Games.
What this means for Burbank
The Ranch, long a workhorse for TV and film production, sits at the center of a city redevelopment effort that officials say has updated the lot for large-scale, modern production use. The City of Burbank notes that the campus at 411 N. Hollywood Way was reconfigured to include a multi-story office building, 16 soundstages, a mill and expanded production support space. City planners and broadcasters say those upgraded facilities make the Ranch a strong fit to host LA28’s broadcast operations.
