Deputies found the wounded person on the 6000 block of Burgundy Road and had the victim taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Investigators said they have identified a person of interest and stressed there is no ongoing threat to the public. They are also looking into whether this shooting is tied to a separate law-enforcement probe at a BP gas station in Durham.
According to WRAL, deputies responded to the 6000 block of Burgundy Road on Tuesday and located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office told WRAL that investigators have identified a person of interest in the case and reiterated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

This latest incident lands on top of a growing stack of gun cases in Durham. As reported by The News & Observer, police statistics showed that 83 people had been shot in Durham as of May 30, including 11 fatalities.
