The Mortuary, New Orleans’ long-running haunted mansion on Canal Street, is packing up some of its scares and hauling them across the lake this Halloween season. Its new satellite attraction, the Saw Mill, is set to debut at Coquille Parks and Recreation in Covington on Oct. 2, 2026, giving Northshore horror fans a home-turf option after nearly two decades of trekking into the city.
According to NOLA, the Saw Mill is being billed as Louisiana’s “newest and most intense nightmare” and will operate alongside the Canal Street haunt through October and into early November. The outlet reports that the new attraction will offer both general-admission and VIP tickets, available online and at the gate.
From Canal Street To Covington
Owner Jeff Borne bought the gutted Victorian funeral home at 4800 Canal Street and opened the Mortuary in 2007, transforming the former mortuary into a multi-level haunted house that now pulls in visitors from across the region. The attraction’s official history notes that the building’s real-life funeral-home past, combined with frequent redesigns of its sets, has become a key part of its eerie reputation, per The Mortuary.
Jobs And Auditions
The Mortuary’s crew is already on the hunt for fresh blood to staff both the Canal Street haunt and the new Northshore setup, with openings for haunt actors, makeup artists, set builders and technical crew, as reported by NOLA. The publication notes that organizers have posted an online application for anyone hoping to join the Mortuary’s “scream team.”
Tickets And Passes
The Mortuary’s ticketing page lists general admission starting at $25 before 7 p.m. and $35 after 7 p.m., with VIP fast-pass tickets beginning at $55. Guests looking to make a season of it can spring for a VIP “Frequent Fear” pass at $150. The site also outlines time-based virtual queueing and ID and credit-card verification requirements for entry, per The Mortuary.
Where It Will Be
The Saw Mill is slated for Coquille Park and Recreation Center at 13505 Hwy. 1085 in Covington. Local listings describe the park’s indoor gyms and fields as regular hosts for seasonal events, making the complex a practical backdrop for a large-scale Halloween production, per Northshore Parent.
What To Expect
Organizers are pitching the Saw Mill as a high-intensity counterpart to the Canal Street mansion, using the park setting to stage bigger scenes and a different flavor of scares. With casting and crew hiring already underway, the Sawmill appears aimed at luring both New Orleans regulars and Northshore locals into its clutches this Halloween season.
