Carver County is putting five names front and center this week, as the sheriff's office rolled out its latest "Wanted Wednesday" bulletin on Wednesday. The weekly post names five people the department says are wanted on a mix of felony charges, probation violations and outstanding failure-to-appear warrants. The update includes photos, physical descriptions and last-known locations stretching from the Twin Cities to addresses in other states, and it urges residents to share tips with law enforcement rather than trying to detain anyone themselves.
Who the sheriff's office says is wanted
According to the Facebook post from the Carver County Sheriff's Office, the current Wanted Wednesday list includes five individuals.
The post identifies Michael William Conner, 27, who is wanted for a felony probation violation and for "engaging in electronic communication describing sexual conduct with a child." It also lists Jenna Diar Al-Jaff, 30, wanted for failure to appear on a felony check charge and for forgery, and Johnny Dylan Painter, 23, who is wanted on a failure-to-appear felony check and forgery counts.
Rounding out the list are Brittany Diane Applegate, 40, wanted for failure to appear on a felony theft charge, and Sigifredo Hernandez Melchor, 42, wanted on a failure-to-appear and a first-degree burglary charge. The bulletin provides photos and physical descriptions and notes last-known areas including Minneapolis, Chanhassen, Shakopee, Oxford, NC and locations in Texas, according to the sheriff's office Facebook post.
How to send tips
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the listed individuals to contact law enforcement, not to step in themselves. The post instructs people to call 9-1-1 in an emergency, and to use the department's confidential tip line at (952) 361-1224 or the non-emergency dispatch number at (952) 361-1231 in other situations. The department also offers an online warrant tip form and warns that "Citizens should not attempt to apprehend any wanted fugitives," according to the Carver County Sheriff's Office.
Wanted Wednesday and community policing
Carver County's weekly Wanted Wednesday bulletin follows a model used by many local agencies, pushing photos and case details out to the public in hopes of drawing more tips. Earlier this year, local outlet Hoodline noted that the series often points readers to the sheriff's confidential tip line and online tip form in its ongoing coverage of the alerts, as reported earlier this spring.
The descriptions in the post are allegations; people named are presumed innocent unless charged and convicted. Anyone with information about any of the individuals listed is urged to contact the sheriff's office through its tip lines or call 9-1-1 in an emergency, and not to attempt to apprehend anyone on their own.
