Authorities say a midweek narcotics raid in Troy turned up more than a pound of suspected cocaine and a few thousand dollars in cash after investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Linwood Drive on Wednesday. The drugs were already packaged for sale, according to officials, who also reported finding digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials. The investigation remains active.
According to WDTN, the Miami County Sheriff's Office led the operation and later released photos of the seized items. Investigators told the outlet they expect to take the case to a Miami County grand jury as they continue reviewing evidence.
What investigators seized
Officials report the haul included more than one pound of suspected cocaine, several digital scales and a variety of materials used to package drugs for sale. In evidence photos published with the report, the suspected narcotics appear divided into smaller, sale-sized bags alongside what authorities described as roughly $5,000 in cash.
Investigators say the packaging and equipment are consistent with a distribution operation, although they have not yet released details on potential charges.
Regional trend
The Troy raid lands in the middle of a run of sizable narcotics busts around the Miami Valley. In mid June, a Montgomery County investigation uncovered more than 9,100 grams of suspected cocaine, according to WHIO.
Troy has seen major seizures before, including a February 2024 raid that turned up about five pounds of cocaine and roughly $29,000 in cash, as reported by Dayton Daily News.
Next steps
The Miami County Sheriff's Office plans to send the evidence from the Linwood Drive search to prosecutors and present the case to a grand jury, WDTN reported. Authorities are also asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the department.
