A block with recent blazes
Hope Street has seen more than its share of sirens in recent months, including a major early-morning blaze in May that drew a “major emergency” response and kept firefighters on the scene into the afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Times. Neighbors told local TV they are worried about a string of vacant-building fires on the block, and council offices say they are working with city departments to identify problem properties, as FOX 11 reported.
What’s next for the building
The department alert states that investigators will review the scene during overhaul and that the Department of Building and Safety was asked to inspect the structure, which LAFD described as a previously burned, vacant commercial building. Los Angeles Fire Department records list the units assigned and reiterate that the cause is undetermined at this time. fires on this stretch of Hope Street have been chronicled before, and city officials say securing neglected properties and timely inspections are key to preventing repeat incidents. Authorities had no additional details by late morning.
