Ari’s Pantry has quietly turned out the lights at its downtown Dallas shop at 1800 Main St., Suite 124, effective today, the owners announced. The Italian-leaning mom-and-pop market, which opened in May 2025, had built a following with coffee, gelato and made-to-order sandwiches alongside imported pantry staples. In their note, the owners called the closure “a difficult decision” and thanked downtown customers for their support.
As reported by CultureMap Dallas, the owners said they will "continue focusing on our locations in Coppell and Bishop Arts as we look ahead to the next chapters of Ari’s Pantry." The downtown outpost was the chain’s third location following earlier openings in Winnetka Heights and Trinity Groves. CultureMap Dallas also notes that the Trinity Groves site is listed as "closed for the summer" on the company’s website.
Flood, lost revenue and a shaky storefront
The Main Street location never really got a clean break. A burst pipe and building-wide flood in October 2025 forced the Mercantile Building to evacuate and sidelined the store for weeks, costing the business an estimated $200,000, according to a report by The Dallas Morning News. NBC DFW later covered the disruption and the shop’s reopening last November, underscoring how stop-and-start operations have strained the downtown outpost.
What this means for downtown retail
The Main Street space has cycled through several small grocers in recent years. Berkley’s Market exited the storefront in 2024 before Ari’s Pantry moved in, a turnover noted by CultureMap Dallas. Owners and local business watchers say that downtown foot traffic and hotel guests do not always convert into the steady, repeat sales that specialty markets need to stay afloat.
Ari’s Pantry’s locations page still lists other stores in Oak Cliff (Winnetka Heights), Trinity Groves and a Coppell outpost, and customers can check the company site for current hours and any reopening news. For now, the owners say they are grateful for downtown’s support and will concentrate on those other neighborhoods as they plan the business’s next steps. More updates should appear on Ari’s Pantry.
