A routine traffic stop in the Village of Glendale on Monday evening turned into a cold-case recovery when officers found a handgun that had been reported stolen in 2017, police said. Officers pulled over a black Chrysler 300, and the driver acknowledged there was a gun tucked beneath the driver's seat. Police also noted signs of possible drug activity inside the car, and the driver was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.
According to WLWT, officers stopped the vehicle on East Sharon Road around 8 p.m. after observing suspicious behavior and recovered the handgun during a search. Investigators later confirmed the weapon had been reported stolen out of Trumbull County in March 2017. WLWT reports officers also found signs of drugs or drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and that the driver was booked on a receiving stolen property charge.
