Two people flashed a firearm and robbed a 45-year-old man inside a convenience store at 322 Grand Concourse in the Bronx on Thursday evening, June 25, according to police. Investigators say the pair demanded the man's property, took his car keys and jewelry, and then fled the scene.
Investigators released still images and a wanted bulletin on July 12 asking for help identifying the suspects. According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the robbery happened at about 6:51 p.m. inside the store within the 40th Precinct, and the suspects took off westbound on West 140 Street after the theft.
How to submit tips
Police say anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The NYPD notes that tips can also be sent anonymously online, by text, or through the department's app for people who want to upload photos or video evidence, with full instructions laid out on its Crime Stoppers pages.
What this means for the neighborhood
The Grand Concourse corridor has been dealing with a run of bold street robberies in recent weeks, and investigators have repeatedly urged residents to review doorbell and security camera footage. Hoodline's Bronx Teen Slashed With Machete coverage of a June 24 attack near the Concourse shows how fast these situations can escalate and why police keep pushing for video tips.
Legal notes
Under New York state law, robbery is defined as "forcible stealing," and showing a weapon can increase the potential charges and penalties, depending on what happened. The New York State penal code spells out robbery and its degrees in Article 160, and prosecutors look at the use or threatened use of force when deciding how to charge a case.
Investigators did not list any arrests in the Crime Stoppers posting. Anyone who recognizes the people in the released images or who has video from the area is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the 40th Precinct. For official tip-submission options and more information, see NYPD Crime Stoppers.
