Cincinnati police are asking for the public’s help as they search for a man accused of opening fire on a busy Over-the-Rhine block. Investigators say Manuel Boyd pulled a gun during an argument on Green Street on April 10 and shot a man, leading to a felonious assault charge.
Detectives say the case moved forward once they had both the victim’s account and surveillance footage from the scene, which helped confirm Boyd as the suspect. According to Local 12, court documents show that combination of eyewitness statements and video evidence was key in identifying him. The station reports Boyd was last known to live on Kings Run Drive in the Winton Hills neighborhood and has not yet been taken into custody. Detectives say they are still working leads as they try to track him down.
How to help investigators
Anyone who knows where Boyd might be is urged to call Greater Cincinnati Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040, according to the Cincinnati Police Department. The department’s press information notes that tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward, and that non-emergency information can also be submitted through the city’s online reporting tools.
Investigators are also asking residents and businesses to preserve any video or other evidence from April 10 and to contact detectives directly if they have something that might help. Even older footage from that date could matter, they say, as they keep working to make an arrest.
Why Green Street matters
Green Street and the nearby corner of Vine are not just any blocks in Over-the-Rhine. They have been frequent targets of nuisance lawsuits and focused police operations aimed at cutting down on violent incidents and after-hours illegal activity, as reported by WCPO. That history helps explain why detectives are leaning hard on community tips, even for cases that are not brand-new.
Police say the investigation into the April 10 shooting remains active and that they will continue to follow credible leads until someone is in custody.
