After more than 15 years flipping patties in the Highlands, Park Burger’s neighborhood outpost is calling it quits later this month. The company behind the mini-chain has confirmed the closure, which will pull a longtime family dining option off West 32nd Avenue and leave Park Burger with just two spots still operating in Denver.
Official announcement and timeline
According to The Denver Post, owner Gastamo Group said the Highlands lease simply ran its course and ended at the close of its term. The restaurant "will close later this month," with a final service date set for July 28. In a statement, Gastamo partner Philippe Failyau said, "Being part of the Highlands community has been a genuine honor." For now, the company is keeping quiet about what, if anything, might take over the soon-to-be-vacant space.
Park Burger's footprint
Gastamo Group, which owns Park Burger, traces the burger brand back to 2009 and still features it among its neighborhood concepts on its Gastamo Group site. The company has publicly acknowledged the Highlands closure while stressing that Park Burger remains part of its broader family of local restaurants. Park Burger’s online ordering page continues to list three Denver locations and shows the Platt Park and Hilltop restaurants as open, signaling that those two are staying put for now.
Highlands dining shuffle
The Highlands has been quietly reshuffling its dining deck this spring and summer, with several smaller storefronts changing hands or going dark as longtime operators bow out. The churn has left West 32nd feeling a bit in flux. Hoodline previously covered recent neighborhood losses, including a Highlands bakery that closed in May, underscoring how even well-established local favorites are feeling the squeeze. For the moment, Gastamo and Park Burger are steering loyal regulars to the chain’s remaining Denver locations and say they will share updates once there is any word on what comes next for the Highlands space.
