What started as a Thursday search warrant in a quiet Limon neighborhood turned into a major bust, after Lincoln County deputies say they pulled a small arsenal, explosives components, and a sizable meth stash out of a home on the 600 block of 2nd Street.
A man at the residence was arrested. According to deputies, he was already on probation and out on bond in a separate felony narcotics case when the warrant was served. The investigation that began with the raid is still active.
Seized cache
Deputies reported recovering 15 firearms, including two that had been reported stolen, along with a ballistic vest, a tactical combat belt, extended magazines, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, some described as armor-piercing. Investigators also say they found more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, suspected narcotics distribution equipment, and various explosive components, according to CBS Colorado.
Arrest and prior history
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office took one man into custody during the search. Officials told reporters the suspect was on probation and out on bond for another felony narcotics case at the time deputies served the warrant. They also said the same individual had been arrested twice since 2024 on narcotics and weapons-related offenses, as reported by KDVR.
Booby trap raised safety concerns
On top of the guns and drugs, investigators say they also found a device on the property that raised immediate red flags. KDVR reported that the suspect "also had a potential booby trap on the property, though it was not in use," a detail that added to the tension of an already high-risk operation.
How this fits a local pattern
The sweep in Limon comes on the heels of a series of recent narcotics and weapons-related enforcement actions in the area, as the sheriff's office steps up efforts across the Eastern Plains. Earlier this month, a Lincoln County deputy fired at a fleeing vehicle during a narcotics investigation at a Limon convenience store, underscoring how heated some of these encounters have become in town. That incident was reported by Denver7.
What comes next
Authorities say the latest case is still under investigation, and additional charges could follow once all the seized evidence is processed and reviewed. Any prosecution would move through the local courts in the 23rd Judicial District, with proceedings based out of the Lincoln County courthouse in Hugo. Court information for Lincoln County cases is available through the Colorado Judicial Branch.
