Sirens and flashing lights flooded a busy southwest Charlotte intersection yesterday as emergency crews rushed to help a person who medics say was gravely hurt. The large response brought traffic to a halt at Westinghouse Boulevard and Pioneer Avenue while paramedics worked on the patient, who was reported to have life-threatening injuries.
According to Queen City News, first responders staged around the intersection alongside an AT&T work van that was on scene. Medic officials told the outlet the person’s injuries were life-threatening, and the newsroom reported it was still working to learn how the injury happened.
Where It Happened
The Westinghouse corridor has already seen serious crashes this spring. In May, a head-on collision on Westinghouse Boulevard killed two teenagers and sent another person to the hospital with life-threatening wounds, according to WCCB. That stretch of southwest Charlotte has since been a focal point in neighborhood conversations about traffic safety after a run of wrecks this year.
What Officials Say
Authorities have not released additional details about what caused Thursday’s emergency or whether any suspects are being sought. Queen City News reported it was continuing to press officials for more information. This story will be updated as emergency and police agencies release further details.
