A late-night rollover on a rural stretch of U.S. Highway 412 left a 24-year-old Kennett man dead and a 13-year-old girl injured early Wednesday, July 1, when their car left the roadway and overturned about one mile east of Senath in Dunklin County. Both were ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the young passenger was airlifted to a Memphis hospital.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol's preliminary crash report lists the wreck time as approximately 12:53 a.m. A westbound 2012 Chrysler 200 reportedly ran off the right side of U.S. 412, struck a ditch, and overturned, ejecting both occupants. The crash is logged in Troop E's online reports for the region.
Driver Pronounced Dead At Scene
Dunklin County Coroner James Powell pronounced the 24-year-old driver dead at the scene, and local coverage identified the passenger as a 13-year-old girl from Kennett, Missouri. Neither occupant was reportedly wearing a seat belt, and the Chrysler sustained total damage before being removed from the roadway by Rudi's Towing, according to KTTN. Authorities withheld the driver's name pending notification of the family.
Passenger Airlifted To Memphis
The girl was flown by air ambulance to Regional One Health in Memphis for treatment, regional outlets reported. KAIT and the state patrol listed the passenger as seriously injured and transported by air to Memphis.
Troop E Toll And Safety Reminder
Local outlets and the patrol's listing note that this wreck pushes Troop E's 2026 traffic death count into the mid-20s, a grim tally that highlights the dangers of high-speed rural highways. Troopers are again urging drivers to wear seat belts and take it easy on the gas pedal, especially during busy holiday travel periods, according to KTTN.
Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol continue to work the case, the agency's online report notes, and officials say preliminary entries can be updated as troopers finish their on-scene investigation, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Local reporting says anyone with additional information is urged to contact Troop E.
