Milwaukee attorney Robert L. Taylor was sentenced Friday to 21 years in prison, plus 15 years of extended supervision, after a jury convicted him in May of sexually assaulting a woman in 2022. The victim told the court the attacks involved repeated choking and violent rape, and said she continues to suffer post-traumatic stress and fears ongoing threats tied to the case.
Circuit Court Judge Laura Crivello handed down the prison term, ordered the additional years of extended supervision and credited Taylor with 82 days already served. According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Crivello said the court record reflected an escalating pattern of abuse as she explained the reasons for the sentence.
911 Call And Hospital Findings
Court records and prior reporting indicate the case began after a 911 call on Dec. 11, 2022, in which the woman asked to be taken to a hospital and a man on the line identified himself as an attorney, according to the criminal complaint. Medical staff later documented injuries consistent with an assault, and court filings say the woman told police she had been attacked first at a hotel and then again at Taylor’s Milwaukee apartment, per Wisconsin Law Journal.
Verdict And Defense
A jury in May found Taylor guilty on multiple felony counts, including several second-degree sexual assault charges tied to the 2022 incident. In court and in a written statement, Taylor denied any wrongdoing and claimed attorneys had fabricated allegations against him, according to reporting.
