An early morning domestic dispute in a quiet Brooklyn Park neighborhood ended with two people in the hospital Friday, after a stabbing that drew a fast police response to the city’s north side. Officers treated both a woman and her adult male domestic partner at the scene before they were taken to a nearby hospital for additional care.
What police say
Brooklyn Park officers were called shortly before 1 a.m. to the area of Bethia Lane near Georgia Avenue North for a reported stabbing. According to police, a woman had been stabbed by her adult male domestic partner. As officers approached the residence, the man walked out of the home with several wounds of his own. Officers provided medical aid to both individuals, who were then transported to an area hospital, according to KSTP.
Local context and resources
Domestic violence remains a stubborn and sobering problem in the region. Documents from Hennepin County note that, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, there were more than 19,000 domestic violence incidents statewide in 2024, and roughly one-third of those occurred in Hennepin County alone. The City of Brooklyn Park keeps a victim resources page that lists local hotline numbers and shelter referrals, including Day One and other crisis support services, for people who need help before things escalate.
Investigation ongoing
Police have not announced any arrests and have not released the names of the injured parties. Detectives say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department. The initial account of the incident was released in a police press release and summarized by KSTP.
