Wednesday’s Flood Concern Has Eased
The National Weather Service says the unsettled weather is now focused mainly north of Interstate 78. A flood watch was canceled early Wednesday as the forecast turned drier, and severe weather or flash flooding is not expected.
Philadelphia and points south should stay mostly dry, although an isolated shower cannot be ruled out across southeastern Pennsylvania or South Jersey. Northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph will continue through the afternoon, with clouds increasing slightly late in the day.
Thursday Offers One Small Rain Window
Thursday should remain mostly sunny, with a high near 82 and a slight chance of rain showers between 2 and 4 p.m. Any rainfall is expected to be light, with new amounts below a tenth of an inch, and the better shower chances remain north of the city.
Friday And Saturday Look Like The Easy Days
Friday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 86, followed by a partly sunny Saturday topping out around 87. Overnight lows should stay in the upper 60s to around 70, while light winds make the end of the week a relatively comfortable stretch for outdoor plans.
That is a notable downgrade in storm concern from the more threatening setup described in Hoodline’s earlier forecast, when heavier rain and flooding were more prominent concerns.
Showers And Thunderstorms Return Sunday
The next shift arrives Sunday afternoon, when a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms returns with a high near 86. Rain chances continue Sunday night and Monday, when Philadelphia could see a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms before another warm day near 85.
Tuesday stays unsettled, with a high near 88 and additional chances for showers and thunderstorms. For now, the best bet is a sunny midweek reset, a calm Friday and Saturday, and a more watchful eye on the sky beginning Sunday afternoon.
