Arrests and investigation
The Metropolitan Police Department has not released the names or specific charges of the men taken into custody. Detectives said they are still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses as they work to piece together what led up to the gunfire. The department is asking anyone with information to call the tip line at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411 to submit anonymous leads.
Neighborhood pattern
Savannah Terrace lies in a stretch of Southeast that has already seen multiple shootings this year, and Thursday’s violence follows another triple shooting earlier in the week. That July 3 case was reported by Hoodline as the Langston Place triple shooting, which left three people injured. Citywide coverage of police statistics has highlighted shifting violent-crime patterns in recent months, even as many of the shootings continue to cluster in a small number of neighborhoods, according to The Washington Post.
How to help
Anyone with information about Thursday’s shooting is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department tip line at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. Investigators say people who may have video or other evidence should avoid approaching potential suspects and instead share what they know directly with police.
