A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after a 16-year-old was found shot and later died in Conroe last Thursday, according to sheriff’s officials. Deputies responded to two 911 calls and found a teenager with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Bobolink Drive and Northern Flicker Trail. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Alexander Guevara, and investigators say the case remains very much active.
Investigation and Charges
According to FOX 26 Houston, deputies received the first 911 calls at about 5:15 a.m. Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, working alongside the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, charged 17-year-old Messiah Archuleta with murder the following day. Officials told the outlet the investigation was extensive and is still ongoing, and prosecutors have not released any information about a possible motive.
Where It Happened
Authorities say the shooting unfolded in a residential stretch north of Conroe, at the corner of Bobolink Drive and Northern Flicker Trail. The incident is the latest youth-involved shooting in the Conroe area; a June apartment shooting that left a 14-year-old injured was among recent cases in which teenagers have appeared as both victims and suspects. Neighbors and community leaders have voiced concern about the recurring violence involving young people.
Legal Next Steps
Per FOX 26 Houston, detectives consulted with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office before filing the murder charge. No court dates or bond details have been released so far. Whether the 17-year-old will be prosecuted in adult court or through juvenile proceedings will be decided by prosecutors and the courts as the investigation moves forward.
Community Response
Sheriff’s deputies say they are continuing to collect evidence and are asking anyone with information, dash-cam video, or doorbell footage to contact investigators. In other recent Montgomery County homicide cases, the Major Crimes Unit has frequently turned to residents for help, including a March double-homicide that brought similar requests from deputies. Click2Houston reported that investigators also sought community assistance in that case.
