Early-Morning Shooting In Reading

Reading police and EMS rushed to the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue just after 2 a.m. on Friday, July 10, following reports of gunfire inside a home. First responders found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to Berks Weekly. Authorities kept the area locked down for hours as they processed the scene and launched their investigation.

Suspect Arrested In New York

Detectives say 43-year-old Amaury Rosado-Laboy forced his way into the Lancaster Avenue home, shot both men, then stole a car and headed north into New York. He was arrested the next day by Woodbury police in Orange County and is being held pending extradition, facing charges that include murder, attempted murder, burglary and related offenses, police told NBC10 Philadelphia.

The Berks County coroner identified the man who died as 45-year-old Alex B. Rosado-Laboy. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday at Reading Hospital, NBC10 Philadelphia reported. Investigators say they do not believe the home invasion was random, although they have not publicly discussed a motive as the probe continues.
