Police say a second suspect is now in custody in the March 20, 2025 shooting on the 2400 block of Elvans Road SE that left 25-year-old Tre'von Norman dead, tightening the net around a case that has been open for more than a year.

Arrest and charges

According to WJLA, 26-year-old Zion Humphrey of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was extradited from Prince George’s County and booked on a charge of first-degree murder while armed, identified in charging documents as felony murder. The arrest makes Humphrey the second person charged in the case.

The shooting

The gunfire broke out around 7:02 p.m. on March 20, 2025, on the 2400 block of Elvans Road SE. Responding officers found Tre'von Norman, 25, of Waldorf, Maryland, unconscious and not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Earlier arrest and court details

The new arrest follows a major break in the case last fall. In November 2025, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 27-year-old Corey Noble of Southeast D.C., who has also been charged with first-degree murder while armed. Prosecutors later told a judge they had surveillance video and GPS data placing Noble near the scene and said investigators recovered eleven shell casings. A judge found probable cause based on that evidence, according to DC Witness.

Elvans Road shooting coverage first surfaced in March 2025, when the case was still wide open and police were publicly asking for help.

What comes next

Officials have not yet released a court date for Humphrey, and the investigation remains active, WJLA reported. The Metropolitan Police Department has urged anyone with information to contact investigators at (202) 727-9099 or submit a tip via text to 50411, per a department release.
