Providence Park's free World Cup watch party for the United States' Round of 16 match is officially at capacity. After the Timbers released a limited allotment of complimentary tickets, about 20,000 were claimed, filling the stadium ahead of Monday's 5 p.m. kickoff. Fans were told they may bring blankets for on-field seating, and concessions will be available inside the venue.
What the club announced
In a press release via Portland Timbers, the club said Gate F would open at 4 p.m. Pacific and that the North End of the field would be open for free play. The release invited fans of all ages to reserve free tickets and again encouraged attendees to bring blankets for on-field seating. Concessions will be available inside the stadium, the team added.
As reported by KOIN, the Timbers issued 20,000 tickets and the full allotment was claimed within about 15 hours, putting Providence Park at capacity. KOIN also reported that concessions for the event will include $4 food and beer, per the team's public relations.
Where to watch if you missed out
Fans who could not get into Providence Park still have options across the city, from big outdoor screens at Pioneer Courthouse Square to OMSI screenings and packed neighborhood bars hosting match viewings. KPTV and Axios Portland have guides and coverage of the citywide watch-party scene.
Expect crowds and plan your trip accordingly: arrive early, use public transit or rideshares where possible, and carry water in the summer heat. Check official Timbers channels for any last-minute updates to the event before heading out.
