Ka Laʻi Waikīkī Beach is back open for business after a $100 million, property-wide transformation that turned the 38-story tower that once carried the Trump name into a residential-style LXR resort. The relaunch brings overhauled public spaces, fresh dining options and a bigger slate of residential studios tailored to longer-stay visitors, giving the quieter western end of Waikīkī near Fort DeRussy Park a very visible upgrade.

A residential-style reboot

The renovation added 238 residential-style studios and suites that lean into the "live here for a while" vibe rather than a quick vacation stay. Units now come with fully equipped kitchens, spa-inspired bathrooms and private lanais, a setup aimed at travelers who want more of a condo feel with hotel services. The overhaul is billed as a $100 million reimagining and the debut of LXR's first property in Hawaiʻi, according to Hilton.

New dining and wellness offerings

Food and drink are getting their own reset. Three new concepts are rolling out: Kini Room as the signature restaurant, Muse Lounge as the lobby cocktail bar and Bloom Cafe & Restaurant for all-day bites. A refreshed Spa Ka Laʻi program is part of the mix, with the culinary side led by Executive Chef Yoshi Ohata, as reported by Pacific Business News. Guests will also find a redesigned pool deck and new cabanas that play off the island-inspired look of the public spaces.

A new chapter for a familiar tower

The high-rise first opened in 2009 as the Trump International Hotel Waikīkī. That chapter ended in 2024 when the owners bought out the licensing deal and rebranded the property, according to Hawaiʻi Magazine. Property records and industry reports list Irongate as the owner, with hotel operations now handled under Hilton’s LXR collection, per CoStar.

Where it sits and what it means for Waikīkī

Ka Laʻi stands at 223 Saratoga Road, on a calmer slice of Waikīkī just steps from Fort DeRussy Park. That location gives guests fast access to both the beach and green space without wading through the heavier foot traffic along Kalākaua Avenue. The hotel's official site notes that most guest rooms are now finished and open for bookings, and management says the redesign is aimed at pulling in longer-stay travelers while rounding out Waikīkī’s existing hotel mix, per Hilton.

Bookings and what's next

Bloom Cafe & Restaurant is already serving guests, while the Kini Room and Muse Lounge are slated to open later this summer. Spa Ka Laʻi and the pool deck are up and running. Rooms and a limited-time "Discover Luxury" package were singled out in local coverage of the relaunch, which notes that reservations are available through official booking channels, per Pacific Business News.
