Columbus started Monday with fog and mist, muggy air and temperatures around 73°F. The quiet-looking morning will give way to repeated chances for showers and thunderstorms, with the city reaching a high near 82°F. Anyone heading out should keep an umbrella nearby and leave room for a slower, wetter commute.
Storm Chances Continue Through Monday Afternoon
Showers and thunderstorms could move through before 11 a.m., with additional rounds possible through the afternoon. A cold front is expected to cross the region later Monday, and the National Weather Service says some storms may produce locally heavy rain, although the overall setup appears marginal for severe weather.
Winds will stay light from the west and northwest at roughly 2 to 8 mph. No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the area, but lightning and sudden downpours could briefly disrupt outdoor plans, according to the National Weather Service.
Cooler, Calmer Weather Arrives Tuesday
Monday night turns partly cloudy and noticeably cooler, with a low near 64°F and north winds of 2 to 8 mph. Tuesday should bring a welcome reset: mostly sunny skies, a high near 81°F and no meaningful rain chance.
The unsettled pattern returns Wednesday, when showers and thunderstorms become likely after 2 p.m. Storm chances remain elevated Wednesday night, then ease to about 30% Thursday before drier weather takes over Friday.
Late-Week Sunshine Comes With Cooler Nights
Thursday’s high should reach about 79°F, followed by mostly sunny conditions and a high near 79°F Friday. Overnight lows will dip into the lower 60s, with Friday night expected to fall near 61°F.
The weekend looks relatively manageable, with mostly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday and only slight chances for afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Saturday’s high is forecast near 80°F, while Sunday should top out around 78°F.
