Bargain hunters and diehard Grizzlies fans are heading to FedExForum this Saturday for the team's annual garage sale, a five-plus-year tradition that clears out old inventory while raising money for youth programs across Memphis. The sale runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the arena's Grand Lobby at 191 Beale Street, with early access for Grizzlies MVP season ticket members starting at 10 a.m.
According to WREG, shoppers can expect discounted Grizzlies Den merchandise marked down as much as 40 percent, alongside novelty items, furniture, custom Grizzlies yoga mats, lunchboxes, posters, TVs, and autographed memorabilia from past seasons. Full-team signed basketballs from previous years are also part of the haul, and organizers are expecting lines to form before doors open. Past editions of the sale have turned up items like Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol jersey-retirement vinyl records, Steven Adams Hawaiian shirts, bobbleheads, and player-worn footwear, according to the Daily Memphian.
Cashless Checkout and Same-Day Pickup
FedExForum operates as a cashless venue, so the station's report notes that shoppers should bring a credit or debit card to complete any purchases. Bins will be provided for shoppers to use while browsing, and bags are supplied for finished purchases, so buyers don't need to bring their own. All sales are final, and anything bought must be taken home the same day.
Free parking for the event is available in the attached Gossett Motors Parking Garage, a five-level structure with 1,500 spaces accessible via Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue, according to FedExForum. Local food trucks will also be set up at the event for shoppers looking to grab a bite between rounds of browsing.
Where the Money Goes
Proceeds from the garage sale support mentoring and education programs serving the Memphis community, per the same account. Memphis Grizzlies Vice President of Community Engagement Abusheri Ohwofasa, who also serves as Executive Director of the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation, said fans will have plenty to search through and that the team is helping to move Memphis forward.
Since its founding in 2001, the foundation has invested more than $53.6 million into youth mentoring and educational programs throughout the Memphis area, according to Choose901. That funding responds to a stark local reality: Grizzlies Foundation data shows roughly 39 percent of children in Shelby County are growing up in poverty, driving the franchise's targeted investment in mentoring.
A Statewide Mentoring Network
Much of that money flows through MENTOR Memphis Grizzlies, which provides leadership, training, and financial support to a network of more than 70 local community organizations serving over 4,300 young people, according to the Sports Philanthropy Network. The program also operates as the official Tennessee state affiliate of MENTOR National, giving it recognized authority in setting mentor training and quality standards statewide, per the National Mentoring Resource Center.
