Honolulu starts Tuesday with mostly clear skies and temperatures near 77 degrees, but the afternoon will turn warmer, sunnier and breezier. Highs should reach about 85 degrees, with east-northeast winds running 10 to 16 mph and gusts up to 23 mph.
The National Weather Service Honolulu office puts Tuesday’s daytime rain chance at just 13%, making for a mostly straightforward beach, park or commute day. Isolated showers could move in Tuesday night, especially over windward and mauka areas, with a 20% chance of rain and overnight temperatures near 76 degrees.
Showers Become More Noticeable Wednesday Through Friday
Rain chances rise Wednesday as scattered showers develop under partly cloudy skies, with a high near 86 and a 30% chance of precipitation. The pattern stays unsettled Thursday and Friday, when highs climb to 87 and 88 degrees and rain chances reach 40% and 50%, respectively.
Most showers should be light, with new rainfall amounts generally expected to stay below a tenth of an inch. Still, a quick downpour could make windward roads slick, while lighter winds later in the week may allow showers to spread into some leeward neighborhoods.
Trade Winds Return For A Windier Weekend
Saturday looks sunny and hot near 88 degrees, with east-northeast winds strengthening to 14 to 17 mph and gusts up to 23 mph. Sunday should remain sunny near 87 degrees, but winds could reach 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.
Anyone planning outdoor activities this weekend should account for the stronger breeze and secure lightweight items before heading out. Isolated overnight showers remain possible Saturday and Sunday, with a few showers lingering into Monday morning before skies turn mostly sunny.
