According to the National Weather Service, showers could develop between noon and 5 p.m., with thunderstorms becoming more likely late Sunday afternoon. The high is expected to reach about 82 degrees before temperatures slide toward the mid-70s, while southeast winds increase to 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Heavy Rain Threat Builds Sunday Night
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue Sunday night, with a 90% chance of precipitation and another quarter- to half-inch of rain possible. Localized rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches, creating a risk of flash flooding in spots even though no Pennsylvania watches or warnings are currently listed.
Drivers should avoid water covering roadways and take extra care on streets that tend to collect storm runoff. Outdoor plans may be easiest early Sunday, before the rain chances rise sharply through the afternoon and evening.
Heat Returns Before Another Storm Chance
Monday brings another warm day, with a high near 89 and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly late afternoon into the evening. Skies turn sunnier Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs near 88 and 89, before another round of showers and thunderstorms becomes possible Wednesday night into Thursday.
