Shively Fire Department crews raced to the 4000 block of Dixie Highway around 5:45 a.m. on June 23 and found several vehicles engulfed in flames outside a business. Investigators quickly determined the fire had been intentionally set, and less than two months later, the search for who did it is still active.
The Louisville Metro Arson Bureau is now publicly asking for help identifying the person caught on surveillance video setting the fire, according to WDRB. The blaze caused an estimated $150,000 to $200,000 in damage, per the outlet's reporting. Crews were called around 5:45 a.m. WHAS-TV also covered the fire, according to WHAS-TV's account.
A Familiar Stretch of Dixie Highway
Wholesale Jim's, in the 3600 block of Dixie Highway, is also mentioned in connection with a March 2025 arrest of the business's owner on charges including receiving stolen property over $10,000, tampering with physical evidence, and organized crime, according to KRDO.
The June 2026 fire is being investigated as a commercial arson on this stretch of Dixie Highway. The Louisville Metro Arson Bureau is investigating the fire, while Shively's own department responded to the blaze.

What Charges Could Follow
Any charges would depend on what investigators ultimately determine about the fire.
Whether any such charge could apply here remains unclear.
Why Vehicle Arson Cases Are Hard to Crack
Cases like this one face a steep investigative climb by nature, and fire can destroy forensic evidence quickly. Motor vehicle fires can be part of the arson caseload nationwide.
Property arson cases can also present significant investigative challenges. Details of a separate Boost Mobile case on Preston Highway are not included here.
