A Spartanburg County judge has sentenced 28-year-old Deandre Lashun Fuller to four life sentences without parole for a 2020 home invasion that left Kelli Curran and Timothy Thompson dead, after a prosecution that included phone-call tracking and photographs of the stolen rifle. Fuller was convicted of two counts of murder, armed robbery, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon by a person convicted of a crime of violence, and received a separate five-year sentence for the weapons charge.
According to WYFF News 4, the attack unfolded in the early morning hours of Oct. 25, 2020, when two men showed up at Thompson's home on Walden Circle claiming they were having car trouble. Curran and Thompson invited the men inside to help, and one of the men then shot both of them multiple times. Curran managed to call 911 after being shot but died later that morning; Thompson died from his injuries roughly two months later, according to the outlet.
Prosecutors with the 7th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office say the robbery was set in motion by an unnamed individual who had traded cars with Thompson just days before the attack and told co-defendant Kenyatta “Dubb” Lebby that Thompson kept firearms and marijuana inside the house. The men's phones showed that Lebby, Fuller and Tyleek Johnson met in Greenville and traveled together to commit the robbery, according to WYFF News 4. A third man was also called to the victims' home, per WYFF News 4.
Cell Records and a Stolen Rifle Sealed the Case
The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office opened the investigation and ultimately identified all three suspects by tracking cell phone calls between Lebby, Johnson, and Fuller. On a 911 call, a man could be heard referring to another suspect by the nickname “Dubbs,” per WYFF News 4.
Investigators later recovered a suspect's cell phone, which the solicitor's office says contained multiple photographs of Fuller and the suspects posing with the victims' stolen rifle in the months after the robbery. That same distinctive rifle, taken along with other firearms and a safe during the break-in, was ultimately found in a car on the property when Fuller was arrested in Greenville in February 2021, according to WYFF News 4.
Prosecutors Call It a 'Horrific Case'
Deputy Solicitor Spenser Smith, who prosecuted both Fuller and co-defendant Johnson, called the case “horrific,” stressing that both victims were fatally wounded after opening their home to people who only pretended to need help. Deputy Solicitor Smith made similar remarks in comments to WYFF News 4, saying Curran and Thompson died after being attacked inside their home while trying to help people. During sentencing, a family member of Curran and Thompson spoke to the court, according to the solicitor's office.
Three Men, Three Sentences
All three men involved in the robbery have now been sentenced. Lebby pleaded guilty in March 2024 and received 35 years in prison. Johnson was tried and convicted in May 2025 and received a 55-year sentence. The solicitor's office also cited court records in its account of the case.
Fuller received four life sentences without parole. The article also cited South Carolina Code § 16-3-20 in discussing the sentence. According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections’ FY 2024 report, the average sentence length for a current violent offense was 5 years, a calculation that excluded inmates with life, death and Youthful Offender Act sentences and those released on paid fine.
Court records show a 2026 habeas case involving the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's 2019 Crime in South Carolina report, the state's violent crime rate increased by 0.8% from 2018 to 2019, although it had decreased by 48.7% since 1991. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Spartanburg County has 808.4 square miles of land area and is the 9th largest county in South Carolina by total area.
